Early Career Teachers are entitled to a two year package of professional development and mentoring based on the Early Career Framework.
Schools receive additional funding in the second year to support a 5% timetable reduction for ECTs and continued mentoring in year two. There are different options for schools to deliver the Early Careers Framework and more details can be found here. New teachers continue to be assessed against the Teachers’ Standards and Appropriate Bodies continue to ensure Early Career Teachers receive their statutory entitlements and will make the final decision as to whether that teacher has met the Teachers’ Standards. Local Authorities and Teaching School Hubs can act as Appropriate Bodies.
